Yes,  it’s this coming weekend: my first ever solo show!  The music starts at 7:30 PM at the Lawrenceville Galactic Quest store.  I’ve got two hours worth of show for you, but I will give you a ten-minute break in the middle.  There is no cover charge to get in the door, it’s an all-ages show, and it’s full of variety.  Some of it’s silly, some of it’s sincere, a lot of it’s both.   It’s mainly my originals but with some covers and traditionals.   I’ll use both the guitar and the djembe (although not at the same time), and I’ll play and sing my heart out for you.   From what I hear it looks like it’s going to be a pretty good turnout, and it looks to be the type of fun crowd that makes any show more entertaining for everybody, so I hope you can make it too!  Please visit http://galacticquest.com/ for more details or scroll down and read my January 6 blog.  This is a big event for me and I’m glad to hear that many of you plan on being a part of it!

See you there!

Once again we had fun at the Dancing Monkey Cabaret, where this past weekend we presented “The Other Side Of Love”. It was good to see some familiar faces as well those who risked their lives to drive through a Georgia March blizzard to attend Sunday’s show. For me it provided temporary relief from two months of withdrawal symptoms as I got to once again share a stage with Matthew Trautwein, who did a beautiful job singing his original “Diana in the Morning” as well as Nazareth’s “Love Hurts.” Geoffrey, Matthew, and I each sang part of “The Power of Love”, Geoffrey sang lead on “Hey There Delilah” while I played guitar and Matthew played violin, and Geoffrey played drums (for the first time publicly, I might add) on my original “Should I Walk Away?”. Although it was a debut for that song, I have to say that with Russ playing piano, Drake playing bass, and Matthew playing lead, it sounded pretty close to how I’ve been hearing it in my head for years (a video of that may surface on youtube in coming weeks). And of course, the J Geils Band’s “Love Stinks” was just a lot of fun and a big crowd pleaser. Be sure and go see Matthew if you can at Galactic Quest in Lawrenceville this Saturday night. I saw his January show there and was very impressed. I won’t be making it to this one as I have a Third Birthday party to host….

The next cabaret show will be a battle-themed show at the end of April, so no show at the end of March, unfortunately. The silver lining for me is that I have a lot more time at the end of March to prepare for my April 4 show at Galactic Quest, and I’m encouraged to hear from several of you who have said you plan to attend! Some of you don’t exactly live down the street, either, which means a lot to me, though I am honored that you’ll be there no matter where you’re coming from. I’m very much looking forward to it, and I hold to my promise to try and make it as fun and special for you as it will be for me. Read more about it in the January 6 blog on www.andythewebsite.com .

Other plans I have for this year following the Galactic Quest show include writing a commissioned wedding song, which will be the fourth song that I’ve written for a particular special occasion (the first of which is on Heroes and Scoundrels). At some point in the foreseeable I will also be doing a little more recording for the Lost Boys. It’s Will’s gig now, but I appreciate the Boys for allowing me to stay involved in some capacity and not completely disappear from the Teal universe.

And finally, while I have fielded a few different inquiries about house concerts, one is actually on the calendar for July 31! The catch for many who might read this blog, however, is that this one will be in Phoenix. Any house concerts that I wind up doing will be treated according to the respective host’s specifications and as publicly or privately as they prefer, but one of the goals for this particular event is to get as many Teal Nation Arizona folks together as possible, as we’re not really not seeing as much of each other now as we were this time last year. I won’t publicly post the address for this one, but if you live out that way and would like to attend, please RSVP to andyphxhouseconcert@gmail.com and you’ll receive all the details.

Please sign the mailing list if you haven’t already done so, and I hope to see you all in April!!!
